About Ocean Forstner's work
Ocean
Forstner was chosen for the 2005 Infrathin Ribbon for her covert project
addressing the affects of spatial and social formations on pedagogy. Her project
involved arriving at her art seminar course two hours before the scheduled
meeting time, rearranging the classroom furniture (desks, drawing boards,
etc.), photographing the new arrangement, leaving the site, reappearing at
the scheduled meeting time, and then noting how the other people in the class
responded. She did not reveal the fact that she had been doing this work until
the end of the semester. Her investigations resulted in the photo/text work
documented below.
(Actual framed size of work is 72 x 100 cm.)
