student portrait project
The initial "visualization" project began with students I had previously worked with at the University of Regina in 2002.
I asked students to imagine the most beautiful, amazing, moving, intelligent art project they could, given no limitations.
I took several photos of each student, in the Intermedia classroom at the University, using available (northern exposure window) light,
and the classroom wall as a backdrop. We then looked at the photos together and I asked them to choose the one that best represented
their process of imagining, or somehow captured the spirit of the imagined project. Though I was curious to know what they'd imagined,
I asked them not to tell me. Here are small versions of some of the images:
